PTO

Permission to Operate

PTO is the final utility approval required before a solar system can be energized and begin producing power. It comes after construction, inspection, and often an interconnection agreement.

For EPCs, PTO is a critical milestone because it often triggers final payment and handoff to the customer. Delays here are expensive: and they usually stem from missing paperwork or slow utility communication rather than technical issues.

An agent system can track PTO-related documents, monitor utility correspondence, and flag missing prerequisites before they become delays.
